my curatorial
throughout my studies and experiences, there has been a particular interest and lean towards the curatorial realm. maybe it stemmed from redesigning my room every so many years, selectively choosing obtained items for display in particular spots: the fabric materials from my aunt jane procured from romania or guatemala draped over bedside tables or shelves, setting the altar for statuettes, jewelry dishes, or books; strategically packing up and shipping down the more beachy items to our home in marco island - the puka shell necklace from my childhood hanging over the “beach - this way” sign, the old florida postcards i thrifted from a shop in alabama, the sand and plastered footprints i made at a resort in st. thomas with my dad; the various home goods i’ve collected from traveling - the bahrainian silk blankets, the bosnian wool rugs, the bright caribbean canvases from cuba, the elephant tapestry from india - they all have a story and a memory tied with their procurement. i have a certain inkling and impulse for particular, strategic, aesthetic, and revealing display and storytelling.
