art museums of skagen 
det grønne forsamlingshus - “open green communities” / “the community co-creation garden”: a best practice project

my participation in this project as a researcher began in 2024. situated in skagen, the northernmost city in denmark, the project is with the art museums of skagen (skagens kunstmuseer, or skm) and the historical artists’ homes that are part of the museum network.

the project aims at creating a more efficient and clear understanding of the uses and of the relations among the different outdoor areas with the vision to develop and initiate future community-based green outdoor engagement, activities, and actions. the work involves a revision of the three main garden spaces of anchers hus and saxilds gaard, drachmanns hus, and the main museum. 

as a researcher on the project, the deliverable is to develop an “idea catalogue” which is to include coherent visions, concepts, and proposals for funcions and solutions of all square meters of the garden spaces, taking into consideration the relationship between the past and present of the areas, the local community and town of skagen, and focusing on modern and future issues such as sustainability and social engagement to establish and enhance the garden as an active space that complements the museums’ experience.
